Household

Garbage is picked up at the curb or on the road edge once each week at no cost to the resident. Garbage must be set out no later than 7 A.M. on the day of collection. Metal or plastic water tight containers with tight lids or wired ends, not to exceed 35-gallon capacity and weighing no more than 50 lbs., may be used. Fifty-five (55) gallon drums or barrels will not be collected. Newspaper and magazines not placed in cans or boxes must be tied in bundles. Paper boxes must be broken down and tied in bundles. Carpet must be cut in four (4) foot sections rolled and tied.

Collection will take place between 7 A.M. and 6 P.M. When a regularly scheduled garbage collection day falls on a holiday, garbage will still be collected on that day, except Christmas and New Year’s Day. Collection for these holidays will be on the day following the holiday. Empty garbage cans must be removed from the curb area as soon as possible. If the collector fails to pick up your garbage, call 563- 1177 within 24 hours to report it.

Acidic or caustic materials, dry or liquid, including lead-acid batteries (car, marine batteries, etc.), must not be put in with regular garbage. The resident must dispose of these items, as well as tires. For more information call Household Hazardous Waste. (See FAQs Page).

Refrigerators, icemakers, window air conditioners and freezers, or any other appliance containing chlorofluorcarbon (CFC) refrigerants, must have the CFC removed before it will be picked up. Tape documentation to the appliance verifying that a certified technician has removed the CFC, then place at the curb on your regular collection day. Without this verification, the appliance will not be picked up. No garbage, yard waste, furniture, etc., may be placed at the curb sooner than two hours before dark on the evening before collection day.

Special Pick-up: Building Material and Limbs

To have building material and limbs removed, you must call 563-1177 to be put on the “Special Pick-up List”. These materials will be picked up one day during the following week, Monday - Friday.
