Architectural Control

A. Purpose

The purpose of our Association is to provide maintenance and architectural control of our real estate and buildings and improvements. Towards that purpose no external addition, change or alteration to a Townehome nor any building, fence, wall or other structure shall be made upon any lot until approved by the Board of Trustees. Unauthorized changes or improvements must be removed or restored to the original condition at the discretion of the Board and at the expense of the owner.

B. Control Guidelines

The intent of the architectural control approval procedure is to weigh and evaluate the merits of the proposed improvement based on the following guidelines.
  • The harmony of external design, color and location in relation to surrounding structures and topography.
  • The recognition of future maintenance problems or expenditures the installation may cause the Association.
C. Community Architectural and Landscaping Policies

The Tennyson Homeowners Association has established several architectural and landscaping policies for use throughout the community. Check with the Community office or the Tennyson website for any new policies which may be added in the future. The following policies can be found in the Policy Section of the Tennyson Homeowners Handbook.
  • Access Ramps
  • Retractable Awnings
  • Exterior Brackets & Hangers
  • Exterior Lighting Fixtures
  • Cable Television and Internet Service Installations
  • Replacement Exterior Lighting Fixtures
  • Fences
  • Flags, Banners, and Ornamentation
  • Garage Doors
  • Hot Tubs
  • Patio Materials
  • Retaining Wall and Landscaping Wall Installations
  • Satellite and OTA Television Antennas and Reception Dishes
  • Storm Doors
  • Trellises
  • Replacement Windows and Patio Doors
Procedure
  1. Write a complete description of the proposed addition, change or alteration and include a drawing, photograph, catalog picture, or specification where appropriate. Complete and attach an Improvement Application, which you may copy from Page 14 of this Handbook, and mail everything to our Manager (see FAQ Page).
  2. Your application will be reviewed by the Architecture Committee and a recommendation presented to the Board for their approval, disapproval or recommendation. Normally, the Application process may take up to 45 days. Applications which require additional review or study may take longer. Therefore, it is important that you allow sufficient time to obtain city permits and application approval before beginning your change.
